This is the perspective I bring to Seligson Law: a deep connection to the entrepreneurial community combined with an intricate understanding of the law and the realities entrepreneurs face.
Ken Seligson
I’ve spent my career practicing at the intersection of complex law and real-world business. From the early days of California’s shifting regulations to the daily operational needs of established professional practices, I’ve seen what it takes to protect a legacy.
“Ken Seligson took time to understand our business—not just what we do, but how we do it. That made all the difference when we hit a compliance snag. He handled it fast and kept us moving.”
— Forest Cassidy
Ever since I first moved to California, I’ve been driven by a single goal: helping entrepreneurs navigate the distance between a great idea and a compliant, thriving business.
My career began at the deep end of regulatory law. Immersed in San Francisco’s history of medical cannabis activism, I found purpose working alongside trailblazers and legalization advocates like Students for Sensible Drug Policy and the Brownie Mary Democratic Club. With these organizations, I helped educate the public and contribute to policy conversations before the adult-use laws even passed, gaining early insight into the regulatory frameworks that would shape emerging businesses.
While still in law school at Golden Gate University, I started working at one of the first cannabis-focused law firms in the country. Over the next five years, I helped lead policy planning efforts for the San Francisco Cannabis Legalization Task Force and built a network of operators, activists, and business professionals who trusted me to help navigate an evolving regulatory landscape. That early experience in a highly regulated industry shaped how I practice today: with precision, foresight, and a focus on long-term sustainability.
In 2022, I founded Seligson Law, a boutique firm focused on business law for entrepreneurs and professionals. Today, the firm advises entrepreneurs and investors in California and New York, offering legal guidance on everything from investment strategy, employment matters, intellectual property, estate planning, litigation, and regulatory compliance.
I take pride in being more than just a legal advisor. I’m a long-term strategic partner, someone who gets to know your business inside and out.
I’ve built my reputation on trust, transparency, and integrity, and many of my clients have become close friends. Throughout my career, I have supported more than 400 businesses, expanding my practice to serve a diverse range of high-stakes sectors, from medical and dental practices to tech startups and professional service firms. I specialize in helping business owners in highly regulated fields protect their legacies and scale with confidence.
I am a member of the International Cannabis Bar Association and continue to advocate for meaningful reform in the industry, leveraging that experience to guide business owners through corporate structuring, compliance strategy, and long-term planning.
I’m proud to have secured multiple licenses for both New York and California clients and even prouder that some of my earliest mentors, like San Francisco Legalization Task Force leader, Terrance Allen, now turn to me for legal representation nearly a decade later.
When I’m not working, I can be found skiing, camping, or doing hot yoga. I geek out over politics, live for the next legal challenge, and wake up every day excited to help others build something that lasts.
